How sales commissions are calculated in Quota Queue

Quota Queue calculates commissions by matching credited deal events to the participant’s effective plan and applying the ordered rule set. The output is retained as deal-by-rule statement evidence, not only a period total.

The calculation sequence

  1. 1

    Select eligible source events

Deal dates, stages, values, products, ownership, and plan conditions determine which events enter the period.

  2. 2

    Resolve participant credit

Primary ownership, zero-sum revenue splits, and additive sourced, influence, customer-success, team, or overlay credit establish the credited basis.

  3. 3

    Resolve the effective plan

The participant assignment and effective dates select the published plan and applicable quota for the event and period.

  4. 4

    Apply ordered rules

The canonical calculation engine applies eligible rules in plan order and records the basis, applied term, and resulting amount.

  5. 5

    Build the statement

Deal-by-rule line items roll into the representative, plan, and pay-period statement total.

Why calculations can change

While a period remains open, a corrected deal, assignment, quota, or published plan can trigger recalculation. Locking establishes the review boundary and preserves the evidence released into approvals.

  • Source-data correction
  • Ownership or split correction
  • Plan publication
  • Assignment or quota change
  • Approved adjustment or dispute resolution

How to investigate a result

Start with the statement line item rather than the period total. Check the source deal, credited basis, effective assignment, applicable quota, rule type, rule configuration, and adjustment history in order. This separates data problems from plan-interpretation problems.
